Gooooooood Mornin'

My friend in Colorado that we just visited recently has been such a great resource for us when it comes to kids music. Because let's face it. When your husband is a musician...he's pretty much a music snob. This translates to many songs that never get heard because...well...he doesn't like the way they start off. This in turn has created two very teeny tiny music snobs...especially when we are all strapped in our seats heading down the road in our familymobile. They pretty much have one or two songs per cd that they love, and the rest...well the rest pretty much goes like this:
~queue music
sonny boy: uh uh
girly girl: nope
me: C'mon, Mommy likes this song.
Sonny boy: No, I don't yike dis song
girly girl: NOOOOOooooooooooooooo
~queue next song.

Sooooooooooooooo my friend has given us a couple children's cds...one being Elmo's sing a long...Which by the way has a few very unpolitically correct and hilarious song lyrics (I think it's gotta be about 20 years since it's original recording) and like a 30 of the most wonderful toddler songs cd. They drive me insane. I was soooo angry at my husband yesterday because he says, You know what sucks?" I asked him what.He sings, "Howdy how do you do hello goooood day." and for the rest of the day I have this silly ditty in my head.

What is even worse than this is that yesterday, I ran an errand ALONE while the children where napping. And. To my utter dismay, I had the Toddler Tunes playing for about a mile down the road before I even noticed. And I was singing along. *hanging head in shame.*

I've Resolved

to not spend as much time crocheting or computering around the kiddles. I get so caught up in my craft, and I am such a blasted over achiever I have to start and complete my projects pronto. So this means a lot more early morning before the babes arise for me to get up and crochet. I am also giving myself one hour during Sesame Street to crochet too. I am trying to spend more time with the babes and take them on adventures and walks, and go to parks, and play with Play Doh...So that's why August hasn't been my best Blogging month. :) Working on my priorities...July just left me so drained...I feel like I was lost in a heap of fibers and finally have made my way out!

One of my newest projects..

Marty the Bear watching the kiddles play. He's visiting a lot of my fellow March Mommies as we speak. :)

Eehp yuuu

We had heard the roar of six apaches flying over head just moments before little ladybug started saying, "eehp yuuu" to me. I was in the kitchen cleaning up, as I do every morning, and she started walking closer to me from the den.

"Helicoptor," I tell her. "Yes, I heard them too."

"eehp yuuu" she insists...

I think, wow...she's really working on her words, trying to say helicoptor.

"Helicoptor, baby."

She's closer. I continue emptying the dishwasher.

"EEEEHHP YUUU." she grabs a fork and hands it to me.

It dawns on me. My baby wants to help me. "HELP YOU."

Oh, are you saying "Help you?"

She giggles. I grab the camera, and she procedes to empty the dishwasher of all the silverware...minus the sharp objects of course!

Instead of mopping while the kids are napping...

Build a fort for the kids with the kitchen chairs (that you had to move anyway), throw on a blanket or two, and throw that mop sucka down while the kids are happy as can be to play in their new house. Ahhhh...now you get some more "me" time during the kids naptime!

Seriously the nicest feedback ever.

I have been selling on etsy for a little less than a year now...and have received kind marks and words along the way, but it is especially rewarding when you create something somebody has in their mind...they receive it and it is EXACTLY what they wanted.

This happened just recently when a very loyal customer asked me to create an heirloom quality stocking hat for a new baby. She didn't know if it would be a boy or girl, but she knew she wanted something Mom could have the baby photographed in and that she could decorate the nursery with. I was fortunate enough to find some amazing deals on some beautiful yarn...and came up with a hit. At least I loved it....then I received this letter shortly after sending the items.

Hello Jenny,I got the baby hat and wash cloths today and I could not be happier. They are gorgeous and I cannot wait for my nieces shower for her to see them. You did an incredible job; exactly what I had invisioned.Thank you so much for the lovely key fob; I am still swooning over it and have already ordered one for my nieces diaper bag.The washcloths are so beautiful and the ribbon you wrapped both items in is so fantastic! I have never seen ribbon like that.I just can't tell you how happy I am with my order. A very warm thank you.

Totally made my day...and for that matter, I am still "high" from this letter. *grinning from ear to ear*

A Couple Toddler "Shorts"

Daddy: Does Daddy need more hair?
Boy: Yes.
Daddy: Where should we get it?
Boy: Oh, should we get new hair at Target?
~~~~~~~~~
Boy: I'm 2!!
Daddy: How old will you be on your birthday?
Boy: 3!
Daddy: What's daddy?
(boy fully knows mommy and daddy's ages)
Boy: Oh, Daddy is number One.
~~~~~~~~~~

Some of the new words Little Lady has just started using out of nowhere....seriously, all of the sudden she busts out with one of these words:
~airplane
~two babies (when looking at a magazine with a picture of twins)
~sushi
~pizza
~abuelita
~bed
~elephant
~mouse
~shoes
~foot

And she's all but stopped calling me Mimi...every now and then she does, but it's mostly Mommy now...*tear*

BBB

BigBoyBed...
Sure it may look like a modified crib (it is) and have a modge podge of crib like accessories (it does) and the sheets don't match the blanket and pillowcase (they don't)

HOWEVER....My son is in his big boy bed! He has been for the last couple weeks and he LOVES it. We removed the front railing to his crib and attached the toddler railing and he started walking around on cloud nine. "Daddy built a big boy bed for me.." he said proudly. And now, he crawls into bed on his own...no more lifting my nearly 40 lb 2 1/2 year old into bed...and I can sit on the side of his bed and read to him at night! So much more comfy than sitting on the floor.

Little sissy likes it too. We have to get onto her for crawling into his bed and jumping up and down. Silly girl! I think before we know it, we will be converting her bed too and making his into the full sized bed.

Next project..potty training!

Again, I've been a busy girl!!

Of course it's always nice to be busy...kind of makes time pass quickly. I remember working at the super market as a teenager. I hated slow nights...that four hour shift would drag, but when it was busy...time flew by.

I've been working on a different order for another photographer. Steffanie Chapell it has been a lot of fun letting myself be a little more creative with my work... Here are some of the items I made for her.

Then on Friday, I just had the itch to travel. I have always loved a good road trip...in fact our honeymoon was three weeks of driving all over the western portion of the nation. So I called the hubs and asked him if he wanted to get away. He was really hesitant...then, to my suprise, he said, "Let's do it!" So we packed up the kids and took off at 8pm from our home to Denver. Now I could almost swear I've done the trip in maybe 4 or 5 hours (and maybe I did) but it took us like 7 hours to get to our hotel. We stayed at the Sheraton in the Denver Tech district. It was fantastic!! I had found a deal for $69 a night online, so I called to reserve, and got an even better deal for $59 a night!!! And to sweeten the deal even more...when we checked out...we were only charged for the one true day that we stayed!!!! (Arrived Saturday at 3am, checked out Sunday)

Hurray!!!

Now getting the kids to sleep on the one king sized bed with us was another story. They are so used to their own cribs that they pretty much remained wired until around 5am. We finally just turned on the Disney channel and let them konk out that way. We only got a few hours of sleep...(Oh, I didn't mention that my babes are ROAD WARRIORS..did I?? Totally awake the whole driving trip...except maybe napping for 45 minutes)

We went to the Denver aquarium which was really awesome!! Scared the babes a couple times though...(They have a cool flash flood zone where people get soaked...lots of screaming...) And an anamatronic orangatan..

And later that day, went to my best friend's house (from college) for a cookout. It was soooooo fun to see her and her hilarious sister again, and then to meet their husbands and kids. We had such a great time and didn't want to leave. The next morning I called her up and asked if they wanted to get breakfast with us....we went to The Original Pancake House which was soooo YUMMY!!! Then we headed home...Again, taking us about 7 hours to reach...
All in all, we were totally exhausted, but it was sooo wonderful to get away and take a break from the routine.
Now back to my tasks at hand...I have a friend making some amazing clippies for my babe and for my neice in a trade for a couple elf hats for her kiddos!!
I will try to post more often, but...you can understand, I'm sure!! :)
